SpiralFrog Launches Free Music Service
SpiralFrog, a new ad-supported music and video service, officially opened its virtual doors to the public today (Monday, September 17, 2007). This new service offers music and videos for free download via their web site: there are 800,000 music tracks and 3,500 videos available at present to users in the United States and Canada.
DRM copy protection has been employed in a similar way to other music services to restrict the distribution of copyrighted music and videos. Users will be able to transfer their downloaded files to compatible music players, but will not be able to burn to CD. Mac and iPod users will be disappointed to learn that they will not be able to use this service due to SpiralFrog's software being available for the PC only.
If you have been tempted in the past to use peer-to-peer networks to illegally download music, then SpiralFrog may just stop your urge to go to the dark side.
