As we continue to twiddle our thumbs while waiting for Apple to reveal what it has done with its Lala acquisition, there have been mutterings in the blogsphere of what Google might be up to in the digital music world. According to an article by CNET, Google could have a cloud-based music service up and running as soon as this fall.
A few years ago, no one would have envisaged that the Web search giant would have branched out like it has and developed as many products and services as it now offers -- this includes its Smartphone operating system, Android. Google's music service which is reportedly being developed would no doubt have to offer several ways to enjoy digital music to be truly competitive. This could include the integration of streaming music and downloads that are also linked to your Web search results. Google could also provide the facility to sync purchased music to your Android Smartphone for music on the go.
If the rumors are correct that Google are preparing a digital music service, it will be interesting to see if it can beat Apple to the cloud.
