The Bottom Line

Uploading your music is a breeze using Mougg and you get 1Gb of free storage for starters -- for unlimited space, you can upgrade for $2.99 per month. With the facility to create playlists and share them on Facebook and Twitter, Mougg is a useful tool for organizing and sharing your music in the cloud. Only MP3 and M4A files are currently supported and so this lack of audio format support might put you off using this service -- especially if your library is large and in another format. Apart from a couple of minor downsides, Mougg remains a great service to use if you want to enjoy your music practically anywhere.

  • Only MP3 and M4A formats supported at present

Guide Review - Mougg Review: Listen to Your Music Library From the Internet

Introduction
Mougg is a streaming audio service that you can use to store your digital music in the cloud and listen to it almost anywhere. As well as being able to stream to any Internet-connected computer, you can also use your mobile device with Mougg. So far the company has developed free apps for the iPhone (also compatible with iPad, iPod Touch), and Android based smartphones to extend its service for mobile users. Want to know more? Read our review of Mougg to discover its features and how this streaming music service performs.

Website Experience
Signing up for a free account is a quick and trouble-free experience. Once you have registered, you can immediately start using Mougg's user-friendly and clutter-free interface -- not to mention the free 1GB of storage space! If you want more than this, Mougg offers an unlimited plan for $2.99 per month. One thing you should keep in mind is that you can't use this service for disaster recovery. This is because you can't re-download your files once they have been uploaded -- only streaming is possible. That said, if you're looking for a service to listen to your music library practically anywhere, then Mougg offers a quick and easy solution to get your music up to the cloud.

Uploading Your Music to Mougg
Getting your music into your free Mougg storage space is easy. Simply click the Upload Music button to get started. When testing this feature, we found the interface easy to use and a series of music tracks were uploaded without a hitch. Currently Mougg only supports the MP3 and M4A (AAC) audio formats and is therefore limited in this aspect. If you store your music in other popular formats such as WMA, Flac, Ogg, etc, then you will need to use an MP3 converter first to use Mougg.

Playlists
If you've already created playlists using your software media player, then you'll know that it's a great way of organizing your music. Mougg supports playlists which can also be shared on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. By clicking the green + icon in the left menu pane, you can start creating as many playlists as you wish. Mougg's interface makes it easy to add songs to playlists by enabling you to drag and drop them from the My Music folder to the playlist of your choice. Overall, a great feature that helps you to organize and share your digital music.

Social Networking
There are a growing number of social music websites on the Internet and if you use Facebook or Twitter, you can share your playlists using Mougg. This is a great feature that helps you to share and discover new music with friends in your social networking circle.

Free Mobile Apps
If you've got an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or an Android based smartphone, you can stream your music straight to your device using one of Mougg's free apps; these can be downloaded via their website. If you find yourself on the move quite a lot, then this is a very useful option for listening to music without using any memory on your mobile device.
