VLC is a popular and capable software media player for both digital music and video. But, did you know about its Internet radio feature? Since version 1.1.0, the VideoLAN Organization has had to exclude SHOUTcast Radio as a built-in option due to licensing conditions. However, if you want to listen to radio stations that stream over the Web, you can use an open source equivalent called, IceCast.

This streaming option isn't that obvious in VLC Player, and unless you know where to look and how to enable it, you might never know! If you use VLC Player and want to find out how to access hundreds of radio stations, then our tutorial on accessing IceCast radio stations will show you how.
