This article explains how to customize the iPhone's Music app toolbar so you can browse your library just the way you want.

How to Customize Tabs on the Music App's Interface

To start customizing the Music app's toolbar, follow the steps below:

  1. If the Music app isn't already running, launch it from the iPhone's home screen.
  2. To get to the customizing menu you will need to tap on the More tab. This is located in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  3. To start customizing, tap on the Edit button which is found in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
  4. You'll now see in the upper part of the screen all the options available that can be added to the Music app's toolbar. Some of these will already be in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, so take a few moments to decide which ones you want to be displayed.
  5. If for example, you want to add the Genre option, hold your finger over the icon (image of a guitar) and drag it down to the menu tab -- you'll also have to decide at this point which tabs to swap it for as only four tabs can be displayed at any one time.
  6. To add more options to the menu tab, repeat step 5.
  7. While in edit mode, you can also re-arrange the tabs in the toolbar. You might, for instance, think that the song tab would be much better sitting next to the playlists option. Whatever your preference you can move tabs around on the toolbar by simply dragging and dropping them until you're happy with the arrangement.
  8. When you've finished customizing the music app's tab menu, tap on the Done button.
